Pastor Kenneth S. Phillips, M.Min.
Minister of Evangelism
Kenneth S. Phillips is a native of Nashville, TN and son of Reverend Walter Phillips Sr. of Columbus, GA and Mary T. Walton of Nashville, TN. He received his education in the Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County School System.
Pastor Phillips received his calling to the preaching ministry in 1977. He received his Certificate of License to preach the Gospel on January 24, 1978. He received his Certificate of Ordination on August 14,1988. Pastor Phillips was both licensed and ordained at the Temple Church in Nashville, TN. He attended American Baptist College and is a graduate of Emmanuel Theological Seminary where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry and a Master of Ministry degree.
Under the leadership of the late Bishop Michael Lee Graves, Pastor Phillips served as Pastor of the Faith United Church – a mission church of the Temple Church. From 1989 to 1994, he served as Senior Pastor of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, TN.
Pastor Phillips currently serves at the Minister of Evangelism at the Temple Church under the leadership of Darrell A. Drumwright, Senior Pastor. He has also served as a Youth Counselor, Choir Director, New Member’s Decision Counselor and Bible Study Facilitator. Pastor Phillips has sung on recordings with Dr. Bobby Jones and the Nashville Super Choir, Rev. Lawrence Thomison and the Baptist Missionary & Educational Choir (B.M. & E. Mass Choir). He has also served as a Board Member at the Margaret Maddox YMCA and currently facilitates bible study at the facility.
Pastor Phillips is married to Vileta A. Knight Phillips and they have three adult children, Kenneth Harvell, Kennan Dwayne and Angelique Danielle Phillips and five grandchildren.
