Phyllis E. Sublett
Pastor Phyllis E. Sublett is a native of Nashville, TNand has served in ministry for over twenty five years. Pastor Sublett earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and Theology/Sociology from American Baptist College in Nashville, TN. She continued her education, earning a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Counseling from Trinity College and Seminary in Newburgh, IN and a Master of Divinity degree from Gammon Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA. While at Gammon, Pastor Sublett’s major emphases were: psychology, theology, the art of preaching and pastoral care and counseling. Providing spirit-filled counseling and support to God’s people, especially during the unexpected turns in life, is one of Phyllis’s great passions. Phylliscompleted a chaplain residency in Clinical Pastoral Education at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville, TN.She has provided chaplain services for St. Thomas Hospital, Baptist Hospital and Alive Hospice in Nashville. After her residency and receiving ecclesiastical endorsement from the National Baptist Convention, Inc., she was granted chaplain board certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains.
Pastor PhyllisSublett has been affiliated with Temple church since 1977 and served The Temple Church for 20 years as teacher, preacher, counselor and leader in the area of congregational/ pastoral care under the leadership of Bishop Michael Lee Graves for 10 years. She presently serves under the leadership of The Rev. Darrell A. Drumwright where she has been appointed asStaff Pastor for Congregational Care.Phyllis was ordained to gospel ministry by the late Bishop Michael Lee Graves August 31, 1992. Additionally, she served in the United Methodist Church (Nashville District) as a licensed local Pastor under the leadership and mentorship of The Rev. Helen Davis-Bell and Seay Hubbard United Methodist Church, Nashville.
Pastor Sublett’s calling and journey in ministry came with great challenges, but her dedication to the plan and purpose of God gave her what she needed to pursue her calling with vigor. She is a lover of people, balanced worship, exegetical preaching, the great hymns of the church, and clean comedy. She is the mother of Sameka Trina, Samuel, Sheronda, and grandmother of nine.
