Letha Woods, PhD
Dr. Letha Woods, a native of Huntsville, AL, is a preacher, a professor and an academic
administrator. She came to Nashville to attend the historic Fisk University where she
earned a bachelor’sdegree in chemistry. She continued her academic pursuits at Meharry
Medical College in the School of Graduate Studies and Research where she earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis in Neuroscience. Currently, she is an
Assistant Professor and the inaugural Director of the Office for Professional Development in the School of Graduate Studies and Research at Meharry.
Her commitment to education is evident in the church as well. At the Temple Church,
under the leadership of Pastor Darrell A. Drumwright, she is an Associate Pastor of Assimilation and Christian Education where she is responsible for directing the Christian
education program of the church as well as giving leadership to the discipleship ministry
that nurtures the Christian development of new converts and new members. The impetus for her ministry is found in the Great Commission, “Therefore, go and make
disciples of all nations.” This principle is the foundation for her mission to know God and
make Him known. She seeks to realize this mission thru teaching and preaching the
gospel of Jesus Christ. |
